皆さん、こんにちは! (Mina-san, kon’nichiwa!) Welcome to Kanji Time. Today, we are going to review N4 kanji. Let’s go.
If you want to do the quiz first, please go to these times.
This kanji means “home, house, family”.
The on-reading for this kanji is カ、ケ (ka, ke) like in 家族 (kazoku), meaning “family”.
And the kun-reading for this kanji is いえ、や、うち (ie, ya, uchi) as in 家へ帰る (ie e kaeru) which means “to go home”.
仕事も終わったし、家に帰るか。(Shigoto mo owatta shi, ie ni kaeru ka.)
お疲れさまでーす。(Otsukare-sama dēsu.)
いや、まだ、まだ、まだ、まだ。(Iya, mada, mada, mada, mada.)
This kanji means “cold”.
The on-reading for this kanji is カン (kan) as in 寒暖 (kandan), meaning “cold and warm”. 寒暖。(Kandan.) 寒暖差が激しい。(Kandansa ga hageshii.) 寒かったり暖かかったりすると、寒暖差が激しい。(Samukattari atatakakattari suru to, kandansa ga hageshii.) 寒暖差が激しい。(Kandansa ga hageshii.)
And the kun-reading is さむ (samu) like in 寒い (samui) which means “cold”.
This kanji means “roof, house, shop, dealer, seller, premises”.
The on-reading for this kanji is オク (oku) as in 屋上 (okujō) which means “rooftop”.

And the kun-reading is いち (ichi) as in 朝市 (asaichi), meaning “morning market”.

The Kanji Explanation in this manner is wonderful.

Iam able to follow the meaning more easily because both

ON & KUN meanings are given & the pertaining Kanji is coloured .
