Hi everyone. Welcome to Kanji time. Today, we are going to review N1 kanji. 参りましょう。(Mairimashō.) If you want to do the quiz first, please go to these times.
This kanji means undertake, scheme, design, attempt. The on-reading is キ (ki) like in 企業年金 (kigyō nenkin) meaning company pension and the kun-reading is くわだ (kuwada) like in 企てる (kuwadateru) meaning to plan.
This kanji means deed, skill. The on-reading is キ (ki) like in 歌舞伎 (kabuki) meaning Kabuki, Japanese traditional drama. Yuh! Or in 歌舞伎座 (kabukiza) meaning the Kabuki-za theatre in Tokyo.
This kanji means prostrated, bend down, bow, cover. The on-reading is フク (fuku) like in 降伏 (kōfuku) meaning surrender. And the kun-reading is ふ (fu) as in 説き伏せる (tokifuseru) meaning persuade.
This kanji means fell, strike, attack, punish. The on-reading is バツ (batsu) like in 剪伐 (senbatsu) meaning cut off or in 征伐 (seibatsu) meaning conquest.
This kanji means chief, count, earl, uncle. The on-reading is ハク (haku) like in 伯爵 (hakushaku) meaning an earl. Or in 伯父 (hakufu) meaning uncle.
