Hi Hayley,

Thanks for the question and sorry for our late reply.

As red explained, by adding の the sentence becomes an explanatory sentence.

But just saying 私は...に行きたいですが [?] will convey the same message.

Hi red,

Thank you for leaving a comment to help other members! Great work.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the comment. If you live in Japan, train app and IC card will be very useful. But if you are a visitor, putting money in IC card may not be good as you may not use it all.

Anyway, those train apps are so helpful! I wonder how visitors navigated themselves 15-20 years ago...

Sincerely,

Miki H

I just finished watching the same lesson over at ChineseClass101.com. Two things that would have made my first train station experience in Japan better would have been finding an iPhone app for train departure platforms & times and buying an IC card instead of trying to purchase train tickets from the machines.

のですが or んですが a sentence ending which indicates that the speaker is explaining or asking for an explanation about some information shared with the hearer.

Why is の needed in-between 行きたい and ですが [?]

Is it possible to just say: 私は...に行きたいですが [?]
