You are in Japan!
Yes, people from Kobe speak in their dialect so I can understand the difficulty. However, I think they are friendly.
this is great! I have been visiting Japan since June 26 and mistook pronunciation of Tanabata as katakana for seta (star). I assume that my mispronunciation is just coincidence. i often mistake evening kanji for “ta” in katakana. Japanesepod101 helped me refresh and improve my Japanese learning from 1999. very useful, japanesepod101.
do Kobe people speak dialect? very hard for me to understand. maybe because young people speak fast and informlly, even at restaurants. Kobe less polite than Tokyo, if that is believable.
