I went to Kyoto for a weekend vacation and was out with some other people that were staying at the hostel where I was. They didn't know a word of Japanese so I got to speak for them at the restaurant! It made me feel good, and also I actually remembered a lot of stuff because of it. I never get to order for myself when I'm out with Japanese friends. They always seem like they have to do everything for me even though they know I'm learning the language. Hmm, I guess I need to be with tourists more.
