Let’s look at the main dialogue.
Two people are having a conversation.
え?どうして?りんちゃんと いせきは どこで 会ったの?
E? Dōshite? Rin-chan to Iseki wa doko de atta no?
Huh? Why? Where did you and Rin meet?
去年、ふくおかで 会った。
Kyonen, Fukuoka de atta.
We met last year in Fukuoka.
へえ。 すごい ぐうぜんね。 びっくりした。
Hē. Sugoi gūzen ne. Bikkuri shita.
Wow. What a coincidence. I was surprised!
This dialogue uses the informal past tense verb to casually describe past experience.
