Do you know how to say you want to do something in Japanese? |
Welcome to Three Step Japanese Practice by JapanesePod101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to say you want to do something. |
Let’s look at the main dialogue. |
Two people are having a conversation. |
そろそろ、新しいジムを はじめたいです。(Sorosoro, atarashii jimu o hajimetai desu.) |
I want to start a new gym soon. |
そうですか。 ささきさんはそんなにけいえいが好きでしたか。(Sō desu ka. Sasaki-san wa sonna ni keiei ga suki deshita ka.) |
Oh, really? Did you like running a business that much? |
In this dialogue, the first character uses the word はじめたい (hajimetai) to show that they WANT to begin something. Here, ‘~たい’ attaches to the verb stem はじめ- to express desire. |
Let’s practice with this grammar more in this lesson. |
