Yes you can say konbini to say convenience store. Actually most of Japanese people call this way in order to make it shorter ;)

Keep up the good study!

Wow, this really is quick and easy. ^^ Like a konbiniensu sutoa- (favorite word because it's all katakana, though I look forward to examining the kanji in the other words) for Japanese words! Could I also use konbini to say convenience store? Arigato gozaimasu!

Hi David,

Thank you for posting.

We will consider your suggestion.

For now you can find those word here:

https://www.japanesepod101.com/japanese-dictionary/

You just need to type in English: Bank account (for example), there you can add to your WordBank.

Let us know if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Laura

Good format!

Just one suggestion: could we have the vocab extension words - bank account, drop by (the convenience store) etc - also able to be added to the wordbank with just a couple of clicks? That would help the lessons to cover a wider range of students with a different levels of Japanese.

I don't want to miss the next lesson. Will it be posted in this series of Prototype Lessons? Or will you start a new series? One way of the other, I will click "Add Course to Dashboard" to follow the Words of the Week.

Medicines are, unfortunately, not free.

We use ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™ basically because the part of "paying" is not the main issue here.

I mean there's no such thing as "get a medicine free at chemist", so the focus of the speaker

is rather on "to receive" it. In this case, ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™ only focuses on the action on receiving.

When we use ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™ in the sense of "buy one get one free", it does have importance

on "for free". This is especially shown in potential form ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใˆใพใ™ instead of ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™.

But you are right; when we use ใ‚‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™, it's usually means "to receive (or to be given) something

without paying a penny".
