Eric: Must-Know Japanese Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 7 - Getting Bored.
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Risa: And I'm Risa.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Japanese about being bored. 守 (Mamoru) gets bored at home, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Risa: 暇だなあ。つまんない。 (Hima da nā. Tsumannai.)
Eric: Meaning - "I have nothing to do. I'm so bored." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

優子: 外で運動したらどうですか? (Soto de undō shitara dō desu ka?)
翔: 新宿で飲もうぜ! (Shinjuku de nomō ze!)
葉月: 私も。。。遊ばない? (Watashi mo... Asobanai?)

Eric: "Me too... Wanna hang out?"

Eric: "I have nothing to do. I'm so bored."

Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "I have nothing to do. ."

Eric: You can also use this expression when you want someone to ask you out, but are too shy to directly say it. Listen again- "I have nothing to do." is...

Eric: Then comes the phrase - "I'm so bored. ."
Risa: つまんない。 (Tsumannai.)
Eric: This is the most common expression for when you want to say you're bored in Japanese in a casual way. You can often hear teenagers use this phrase at school. Listen again- "I'm so bored." is...

Eric: All together, "I have nothing to do. I'm so bored."
Risa: 暇だなあ。つまんない。 (Hima da nā. Tsumannai.)

Eric: In response, 守 (Mamoru)'s friends leave some comments.
Eric: His high school friend, 結衣 (Yui), uses an expression meaning - "Let's go to the cherry blossom viewing."
