James: Hi everyone, and welcome back to JapanesePod101.com. I'm James.

James: This is Must-Know Japanese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 22. In this lesson, you'll learn interesting and unique slang expressions.
James: These slang terms indicate a certain condition of someone or something with a unique expression.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
James: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Risa: ポシャる (posharu)
Risa: イカれる (ikareru)
Risa: 浮いてる (uite ru)
Risa: まったりする (mattari suru)
James: Risa, what's our first expression?
Risa: ポシャる (posharu)
James: It doesn’t have a literal meaning. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "to fizzle out."
Risa: [SLOW] ポシャる [NORMAL] ポシャる

James: Use this slang expression when you want to express that a plan or a schedule becomes aborted halfway through.
James: Now let's hear an example sentence.

James: literally meaning "to be able to go." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to become broken."

James: Use this slang expression when you express that someone gets crazy, or something doesn't work normally. The word is from the verb
Risa: 行く (iku),
James: which means "to go" plus the auxiliary verb
Risa: れる (reru),
James: which indicates potential.

James: "He is crazy."
Risa: [NORMAL] あいつはイカれている。

Risa: 浮いてる (uite ru)
James: literally meaning "to be floating." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be out of place."

James: "I felt a bit out of place in my class."

James: literally meaning "to do full-bodied flavor." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to chill out."
