Hi everyone. Welcome to Kanji time. Let’s review N5 kanji today. If you want to do the quiz first, please go to these times.
This kanji means month, moon. The on-reading is ゲツ、ガツ (getsu, gatsu) as in 三月 (san-gatsu) meaning March. March. And the kun-reading is つき (tsuki) as in 月 (tsuki) meaning moon or month.
This kanji means to see, to be visible, to show. The on-reading is ケン (ken) as in 見学 (kengaku) meaning looking around. And the kun-reading is み (mi) as in 見る (miru) meaning to see. 見る、見ない。見る、見ない。見る、見ない。どっちや。(Miru, minai. Miru, minai. Miru, minai. Dotchi ya.)
This kanji means word, to talk, to tell, to say. The on-reading is ゲン、ゴン (gen, gon) as in 言語 (genkgo) meaning language and the kun-reading is い (i) as in 言う (iu) meaning to tell, to say. 言う、言わない。言う、言わない。言う。(Iu, iwanai. Iu, iwanai. Iu.)
This kanji means old, used. The on-reading is コ (ko) as in 古紙 (koshi) meaning used paper and the kun-reading is ふる (furu) as in 古い (furui) meaning old.
This kanji means five. The on-reading is ゴ (go) as in 五年 (go-nen) meaning five years. 一年、二年、三年、四年、五年。(Ichi-nen, ni-nen, san-nen, yo-nen, go-nen.) and the kun-reading is いつ (itsu) as in 五つ (itsutsu) meaning five items. 今何歳?五つ。(Ima nan-sai? Itsutsu.)
