Hi everyone. Welcome to Kanji Time. Okay, let’s review N1 kanji. Let’s go. If you want to do the quiz first, please go to these times.
ここでーす。(Koko dēsu.)
This kanji means destitution, scarce, limited. The on-reading for this kanji is ボウ (bō) as in 貧乏 (binbō), meaning poverty and kun-reading is とぼ (tobo) as in 乏しい (toboshii), meaning scarce, lacking.
This kanji means latter, duplicate, strange, witty. The on-reading for this kanji is オツ (otsu) as in 乙な (otsu na), meaning smart and 乙な味 (otsu na aji), meaning tasty.
This kanji means tortoise, turtle. The on-reading is キ (ki) as in 亀甲模様 (kikō moyō), meaning a hexagonal pattern. And kun-reading for this kanji is かめ (kame) as in 海亀 (umigame), meaning sea turtle.
This kanji means well, community, town. The on-reading is セイ、ショウ (sei, shō) like in 天井 (tenjō), meaning ceiling and kun-reading is い (i) as in 井戸 (ido), meaning well.
This kanji means Asia, rank, next, come after. On-reading is ア (a) as in 亜熱帯 (anettai), meaning the subtropical zone. And the kun-reading is つ (tsu) as in 亜ぐ (tsugu), meaning to be next, to be second.
