Lesson Transcript

Hi, everyone.
In this lesson, you'll practice giving your age.
You'll be challenged to ask and answer questions about age.
First, let's look at some examples.
To ask someone's age, say なんさいですか。 (Nan-sai desu ka.)
To answer, say the number followed by さい (sai).
Note that 20 years old is はたち (hatachi).
Not にじゅうさい (ni-jū sai).
Listen to a few more examples.
凛さん、なんさいですか。 (Rin-san, nan-sai desu ka.) はたちです。 (Hatachi desu.)
You are talking to Rin.
Ask her, "How old are you?"
Now ask Hitoshi, "How old are you?"
How did you do?
You can consider this practice exercise successful if you were able to answer in the given time and use the sentence pattern featured in the examples.
Try this practice exercise again if you want to improve your fluency.
To learn more vocabulary and phrases, access our Can-Do video series by clicking the link in the description.
And that's it for this lesson.
Great job.
Now you know how to give your age.
Go ahead and move on to the next lesson.
I'll see you there.
