Hi, everyone.
In this lesson, you'll practice how to discuss language abilities.
You'll be challenged to discuss language abilities.
First, let's look at some examples.
イチカさんは、英語ができますか。 (Ichika-san wa, Ei-go ga dekimasu ka?)
はい、少しできます。 (Hai, sukoshi dekimasu.)
To ask if someone can do something, like speak a language, say the language followed by-
ができますか。 (ga dekimasu ka.)
To answer affirmatively, say-
はい、できます。 (Hai, dekimasu.)
To answer negatively, say-
いいえ、できません。 (Iie, dekimasen.)
Listen to a few more examples.
ジャックさんは、中国語ができますか。 (Jakku-san wa, Chūgoku-go ga dekimasu ka?)
いいえ、できません。 (Iie, dekimasen.)
トムさんは、スペイン語ができますか。 (Tomu-san wa, Supein-go ga dekimasu ka?)
はい、できます。 (Hai, dekimasu.)
Let's practice.
You meet Jack.
Ask him if he can speak Chinese.
いいえ、できません。 (Iie, dekimasen.)
Now, meet Tom.
Ask him if he can speak Spanish.
はい、できます。 (Hai, dekimasu.)
