| First, let's look at some examples. |
| 中村さん、会議はいつですか。(Nakamura-san, kaigi wa itsu desu ka?) |
| 4月15日です。(Shi-gatsu jū go-nichi desu.) |
| 締め切りは何月何日ですか。(Shime-kiri wa nan-gatsu nan-nichi desu ka?) 4月20日です。(Shi-gatsu hatsuka desu.) |
| To ask for a date, you can say, いつですか (Itsu desu ka?) or 何月何日ですか (Nan-gatsu nan-nichi desu ka?) |
| To answer, state the month, 月 (gatsu), and day, 日 (nichi). |

| 誕生日はいつですか。(Tanjōbi wa itsu desu ka?) |
| 8月15日です。(Hachi-gatsu jū go-nichi desu.) |
