Lesson Transcript

Hi, everyone.
In this lesson, you'll practice giving the time.
In the next minute, you'll be challenged to ask and answer questions about the time.
First, let's look at some examples.
中村さん、今何時ですか。七時です。(Nakamura-san, ima nan-ji desu ka. Shichi-ji desu.)
会議は何時ですか。会議は十一時です。(Kaigi wa nan-ji desu ka. Kaigi wa jū ichi-ji desu.)
To ask when an event is, put the event name before はなんじですか (wa nan-ji desu ka).
To answer, simply say the time followed by です (desu).
Listen to a few more examples.
しあいは何時ですか。二時です。(Shiai wa nan-ji desu ka. Ni-ji desu.)
You are talking to Shin.
Ask him, "What time is the game?"
二時です。(Ni-ji desu.)
How did you do?
You can consider this practice exercise successful if you were able to answer in the given time and use the sentence pattern featured in the examples.
Try this practice exercise again if you want to improve your fluency.
To learn more vocabulary and phrases, access our Can-Do video series by clicking the link in the description.
And that's it for this lesson.
Great job.
Now you know how to give the time.
Go ahead and move on to the next lesson, and I'll see you there.
