Hi, everyone! It's time for Top Words! Today, we're going to learn 10 Must-Know Particles for Japanese Learners. Let's go!

1. を (o) "particle used for direct object in a sentence"

りんごを食べました。 (Ringo o tabemashita.) "I ate an apple."

2. から (kara) "from"

うわー、昨日から天候がずいぶん変わりました。 (Uwā, kinō kara tenkō ga zuibun kawarimashita.) "Wow, the weather has changed so much from yesterday."

3. と (to) "with" (/"and")

真由美といっしょにパーティーへ行きます。 (Mayumi to issho ni pātei e ikimasu.) "I'm going to the party with Mayumi."

弟と妹がいます。(Otōto to imōto ga imasu.)

4. へ (e ) "for"

彼は東京を経って、札幌へ向かった。 (Kare wa Tokyō o tatte, Sapporo e mukatta.) "He left Tokyo for Sapporo."

彼女への手紙です。(Kanojo e no tegami desu.)

5. の後 (no ato) "after"

このミーティングの後、休憩しましょう。 (Kono mīteingu no ato, kyūkē shimashō.) "After the meeting we'll take a coffee break."

6. の (no) "of"

田中さんのお家はきれいです。 (Tanaka san no ouchi wa kirē desu.) "Mr. Tanaka's house is beautiful!"

7. なぜなら (nazenara) "because"

彼女は試験を受けることができませんでした。なぜなら、寝坊したからです。 (Kanojo wa shiken o ukeru koto ga dekimasen deshita. nazenara, nebō shita kara desu.) "She missed the exam because she overslept."

8. しかし (shikashi) "however"

あなたに電話してみました。しかし、繋がりませんでした。 (Anata ni denwa shite mimashita. shikashi, tsunagarimasen deshita.) "We tried to contact you by phone, but with no success."

9. もし (moshi) "if"

もし何か必要だったら、私に電話してください。 (Moshi nanika hitsuyō dattara, watashi ni denwa shite kudasai.) "If you need anything, just call me."

10. まで (made) "until"

私たちは午前1時まで、それについて話した。 (Watashitachi wa kozen ichi ji made, sore ni tsuite hanashita.) "We talked about it until 1 am."
