John: Here's the way to say “one yen" in Japanese.

John: First is a word meaning "one."
Risa: [Normal] いち [Slow] いち (ichi)
John: Last is the word meaning "yen."
Risa: [Normal] 円 [Slow] 円(en)
John: Listen again to the phrase meaning "one yen."
Risa: [Slow] 一円。 [Normal] 一円。
John: Okay, now let's see the way to say "Ten yen."
Risa: [Normal] 十円。(Jū-en.)
John: First is a word meaning "ten."
Risa: [Normal] 十 [Slow] じゅ・う (jū)
John: Last is the word meaning "yen."

John: Listen again to the phrase meaning "ten yen."

Cultural Insight
John: Now, it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Risa: The Japanese currency has 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500-yen coins and 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000-yen bills. The coins are called ichi-en dama, go-hyaku-en dama and so on. On the other hand, the bills are called sen-en satsu, ichi-man-en satsu and so on.
