Kore wa? I think this the more advance way… when you drop off the desu ka….

Andrei さん、
Konnichiwa.
Unfortunately, ’Kore nan desu ka?‘ is grammatically incorrect.
However, Japanese can understand the meaning.
Answers to questions including nan should have numbers.
For example, ‘nani ji desu ka (what time is it?)’ and ‘ni ji desu (two o’clock).’
On the other hand, answers to questions to ‘nani’ do not have numbers.
For instance ‘nani o shimasu ka (what would you do?)’ and ‘I will study (benkyou o shimasu).’

Not sure if it’s just my hearing, but I have heard some cases when “wa” is taken out.

Kore wa nan desu ka?
Kore nan desu ka?

Is this still grammatically correct? Also, what is the difference between nan and nani? Can I replace nan with “nani” in scenario?

Nan desu ka?
Nani desu ka?

Arigatou!

Examples are below.
Which one?
Which is Taro’s?
Which one will you take? Which [What] is your choice?
Which do you want?
I don’t like neither of them.
