テレビの横 & テレビの隣 ー what's the difference? 2

Postby Starhowl » September 25th, 2015 9:07 am

I have another question, feel free to moderate them together into 1 thread, if you'd like, as stated above in the title, what the difference between these 2 is?
The only constant in the universe is change, thus the way of harmony lies in accepting change. :flower:

Starhowl san,
Konnichiwa. :)
テレビの横 & テレビの隣 are both “something next to the TV.”
According to the grammar textbook, when you use テレビの隣, the size or category of A should be similar to the TV.
When you use テレビの横, the size or category of A can be different from the TV.
However, many native Japanese speakers use them interchangeably for talking about small things.
