Recommendation for a lower-intermediate textbook?

Hello,

I was hoping someone could recommend a textbook for my situation. I've finished Genki 1 and 2, but I'm finding the next book in the series, the Intermediate book, to be a little too dense and challenging. I think I'm not quite ready for it. Does anyone know a book that is a bit in between? I don't really have problems with learning grammar but vocabulary and conversation are really tough for me.

The "MINNA NO NIHONGO" series has two books corresponding to Genki 1 and 2 and now there is the lower Intermediate book, too (main text + CD and grammar notes/translation).I think it could be what your are looking for because I know the intermediate book of "Genki".
