| Jessi: Shin-Yokohama at nine-nineteen. Nagoya, ten-forty-three. |
| Conductor: 名古屋までは時間通りの到着ですが、雪のため、京都、新大阪には、13分の遅れが、予想されます。 |
| Jessi: Until Nagoya, we will be stopping at the times scheduled, but due to snow, we're estimating a thirteen-minute delay in our arrival at Kyoto and Shin-Osaka. |
| Conductor: そのため、京都には11時36分、終点の新大阪には11時53分に到着する予定でございます。 |
| Jessi: Due to this, we are planning to arrive at Kyoto at eleven-thirty-six and at our final stop, Shin-Osaka, at eleven-fifty-three. |

| Jessi: 雪で新幹線が少し遅れているんですね。So the Shinkansen will be running late because of snow. |
| Tomoyuki: そうですね。でも、ミサキちゃんは少しうれしそうでしたね。Misaki sounded excited. |
| Jessi: はい。「雪だるま」作ろう！"let's make a snowman!”と言っていましたね。 |
| Tomoyuki: そうですね。雪で遊ぶのは楽しいですからね。 |
| Jessi: そうですね！ Playing with snow is a lot of fun. |

| Tomoyuki: 「時間」は？ |
| Jessi: "time" |
| Tomoyuki: ｢通(どお)り」 は「同じ」という意味ですね。だから「時間通り」は「時間と同じ」という意味です。 |
| Jessi: So This suffix -通(どお)り means "following" or "in accordance with". |
| So, "時間通り" literally means "on time" in English. |
| Tomoyuki: 他にも「予定通り」とか「予想通り」もよく使いますね。"予定通り" and "予想通り" are also common expressions. |
| Jessi: Can we hear those expressions again? The first one you said was...? |
| Tomoyuki:はい。予定通り |
| Jessi: That's 予定 "schedule" ＋ 通(どお)り "in accordance with", isn't it? So 予定通り means "according to schedule, as arranged". |
| Tomoyuki: The second one I said was...”予想通り”. |
| Jessi: That's 予想 "expectation" "prediction"＋通り "in accordance with". So...予想通り means "as expected". |

| Jessi: The focus of this lesson is listening to an announcement on a bullet train. In this grammar section, you'll learn the usage of the humble verb ”拝見する”, meaning "to look at" or "to see." |
| Tomoyuki: In the dialogue, the train conductor said…”乗車券と特急券を拝見します”. |
| Jessi: Literally, this means "I will look at your tickets and limited express tickets". Since he is basically asking for them, in English this becomes "Tickets and limited express tickets, please." |
| Tomoyuki: この｢拝見します」が、このレッスンのポイントです。And "拝見します" is a ます form of a verb, "拝見する"-"to look". |
| Jessi: So first of all, let us explain the humble verb "拝見する." |
| "拝見する" is the humble form of verb "見る"-"to look at" or "to see." |
| Let's show some examples. Tomoyuki, how do you say "I'm going to look at your train ticket?" |
| Tomoyuki: はい。切符を見ます。 |
| Jessi: Now, change this ”見ます” to the corresponding humble verb ”拝見します”. |
| Tomoyuki: 切符を拝見します。 |
| Jessi: "I'm going to look at your train ticket." or "Train ticket, please". |
