Konnichi wa Mina-san,

What do you think about the Buzzword-of-the-Year? What do you think about the TV show? Are there any other kooky contests that you’ve seen on Japanese TV? Leave us a post and comment.

Thanks guys so much for this lesson. Really interesting. Re the KY thing - my college students in japan asked me if I knew about this. I thought they were joking about ky gel ! Maybe they were!? I wonder how many Japanese know about ky gel?! Interesting to hear what ky means in Japanese.

2008で笑わせた冗談はあそさんの場合ではKY=漢字が読めないって。あれはちょっと叔父ギャグですか?アラサと言うのは僕の役に立つと思います。2008は本当に変だったね。

Everyone, what are your favorite buzzwords or phrases from 2008?

I love Peter’s ルネサンス と KーY

One of my favorites:

しぼう  どうき
志望   動機
desire motive

Is this usage OK?

What is is his motivation to do hat?
彼の志望動機は何ですか?

What kind of desire and motivation do you have?
どうゆう志望動機がありますか?
