Nice^^ I don’t read Manga but my former class mates were obsessed with one piece and dragon ball.
Friday at 7:21 pm
I think I’m typical Japanese student. My interest in learning the language started with manga, but now I have stopped reading manga almost completely, but still continuing with the language and gradually having more interest in cultural things as well
Friday at 7:25 pm
When i was a kid, I was crazy about Dragonball. And I was thinking that if i train so hard, I could do Kamehameha someday….
Oh, and One Piece is good, too.

I love reading Antique Bakery, it’s a really heartwarming story. Yuki-san, did you read this “touching” story?

Steve
Friday at 7:42 pm
I’ve heard of that manga, Steve-san!
I think that manga was TV drama broadcasted in japan.
ok, I HAVE to check that out.
Does anybody know about Antique Bakery?
Friday at 7:49 pm
I have no manga at home… Maybe I’ll go to the japanese book store in Stockholm and buy one in japanese.
Friday at 7:52 pm
actually, i had no interest in manga at all. and as a child, i didn’t like american comics either. but my girlfriend bought me the first volume of Deathnote and I decided to finish the series.
i looked up Antique Bakery in wiki. i probably won’t be reading that one anytime soon.
maybe Fabrizio (from the Nihongo Dojo series) might be interested.

Steve,
I read that Manga! I can really empathize with Yusuke because he’s always losing his job, I feel so bad for him. I almost cried for joy when he got the job at the Antique Bakery!

My japanese friend sent me Chobits completely in Japanese thats nice but its still hard to understand he kanji
But here in Germany the mangas are veeeery expensive I think nearly 1000 yen each one…

(Ranma has such a big problem but still does everything to the best of his/her ability.)
(Confused by using both ‘his’ and ‘her’ pronouns when referring to a Manga character? Have a look at Ranma 1/2.)

StEvE AuStiN and Christmas Burger, I LOOOOVE The Antique Bakery!! It’s so romantic. Where do you guys live? We should go out coffee for some time.
Great lesson too, guys! I wonder if all The Antique Bakery fans will come out!

I have also read it in English. In English, I have also read A.I. Love You, Chobits, and +Anima.
魔法先生ネギま! is really helping me with カタカナ, since it has at least 2 languages in each. Some of the books have up to 4. (the japanese versions anyway). All have Japanese, and some Latin (written in カタカナ), some have some ancient greek and English. (ネギ先生 is an English teacher, and a wizzard, after all). It helps that it is a cute story. Too bad the young protagonist doesn’t always succeed at everything he attempts.

PRINCE OF TENNIS, it’s my favorite!!!

I recently bought the first five volumes of Death Note, and I’m not even halfway through the first one
So many words aren’t in my 16,000-entry dictionary, so I have to keep coming back to the computer.
I figure if I work my way through them and then re-watch the anime, and then re-read the manga, the vocabulary might sink in. It could be a good learning exercise

Most of the girls I know who’re into manga just can’t get enough of the manga Nana. They even got me into it initially, but I got bored of it when it just seems like everybody was just sleeping with everybody else.
Saturday at 5:59 am
Saturday at 6:54 am
I don’t like Manga or American comics. But I love Japanese dramas! hehe.
But this was a fun lesson anyway. I love the Intermediate lessons, always very challenging!

そして、Japanesepop101.comは有用だと思います。:D Japanesepop101.comに本当にありがとうございます!
Hello Everyone!!
My name is Frank and I am a 3rd year University student. months ago I lived in Japan but now I am living in Canada studying English. I really want to study Japanese, but Japanese people and people who speak Japanese are hard to come by. So I study on my own. I think Japanesepod101 is helpful. Thanks so much Japanesepop101.com!
Today’s lesson was fun. Up until now, I’ve read manga a lot. In Canada manga is very expensive so I often don’t buy them. Ahh…Favourite manga? I like DNAngel and Gundam Seed.
Well, it was nice meeting you all. See ya!

The best manga ever made is in my opinion Miyazaki Hayao’s Kaze no Tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind).
Miyazaki is of course most known for the amazing Studio Ghibli films. The Naushika film was made before the manga was completed and was actually the film that launched the creation of Studio Ghibli. The manga is of course much longer than the film, and if you enjoyed the film, you will love the manga. It really is beautiful and I urge everyone to check it out asap.
Some other favourite mangas of mine include BERSERK and anything by Masamune Shirow.
On a side note, for there are some really nice Korean comics being released translated into English right now so if you are a Korea fan like me you should check those out too.
Monday at 10:17 am
This was another good, challenging lesson with the raw Japanese that would otherwise never occur in Japanese teaching materials. I rarely try to read manga, but I did watch quite a number of episodes of Dragonball Z on Japanese television back when my son was in elementary and junior high school. Anyway, there was a lot of unaccustomed vocabulary (and subject matter), and it really forced me to study.
:kamehamehaaa:
Oops, that smiley appears to be missing from your library . . .

I walked into a manga shop in Illinois on Saturday. One thing I really need to know are all the categories, I had no idea what I was looking at most of the time. I mostly ended up thumbing through a lot of music and entertainment magazines instead. Are most Japanese publications printed backwards? (i.e. - the back cover is actually the front and you read it back to front).
