Learn Japanese with JapanesePod101.com! Today we have a conversation between two colleagues. One guy says he came across 2 tickets to a Seiji Ozawa concert. The other guy is a big fan!! Typically, these tickets are really expensive and hard to get. We’ll learn how to invite people to do things using the polite -masen ka construction. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and leave us a post!

Mina-san, at JPod world headquarters we listen to Seiji Ozawa 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We eat, drink, sleep, and breathe Seiji Ozawa. On rainy days we listen to his CD’s a full volume. It’s all KoreanClass101 Keith Kim’s idea.

I’m familiar with ‘if it’s okay/good’, but how do you say ‘if you want/like’? Or are both nuances covered by the former in Japanese?

By the way, is there a site similar to this that teaches Japanese people English?

do you mean for inviting people to do things?

パーティーに行きませんか。 why don’t you go to the party (with me)
パーティーに行きましょうか。 let’s go to the party.
パーティーに行きたいんですか。 do you want to go to the party?

personally, i’d ask with these

how about you guys?

Javizy-san
Although not specifically targeted at Japanese speakers (I think they are just targeting those studying English), there is Anytime-English. I remember links to this one from a post in the forums at www.thejapanesepage.com, and you might want to read the comments there before completely mimicing the sounds of the speakers.

In High school, I played bass in a classical band. (Orchestra?)
