Santa Claus
みなさん、こんにちは！美樹です。
12月25日はクリスマスですね。今日はどこへ行っても人がいっぱいでしょう。今年は土日と重なったので余計に混雑が予想されます。
日本に来てくれるサンタさんは、クリスマスの夜に子供達の枕元にプレゼントを置いていってくれることになっています。トナカイとサンタさんは大忙しですね！頑張って！
小さい頃、私はサンタさんに関する問題が２つありました。一つは、煙突のない私の家にサンタさんが来てくれるのかということです。この問題は窓を少しあけて眠ることで解決しました。２つ目はサンタさんにどうやって欲しい物を伝えるかということです。手紙を書いた年もありましたが、両親に「サンタさんの電話番号を知っている」と言われ、伝言してもらったこともあります。
大きくなるにつれ、私はサンタさんの存在を疑うようになりました。何が欲しいかを絶対誰にも言わないようにし、夜ずっと起きていようと頑張ったりしました。私の両親は寝ている私の耳元で鈴を鳴らしたりしてサンタさんの存在を信じさせようと頑張っていたようです。

結局一度もサンタさんと出会うことも、サンタさんの代わりを見ることもなかったですねぇ。誰かサンタさんを見た人いますか？

Sorry but my Japanese is not good enough to respond in Japanese.
When I began to doubt the existence of Santa Claus, I came up with a plan. On Christmas Eve, we put out a plate of cookies and a cup of milk Santa. We also put out two carrots for the reindeer. So that evening, I counted the number of carrots left in the refrigerator and there were 6. Then I counted again in the morning and there were 8 carrots in the refrigerator. I had may answer.

Do not jump to conclusions !
My own interpretation is that reindeers, unlike rabbits, will eat hay rather tha carrots. Santa, does not like food to be wasted and simply put them back into the fridge…

Beautiful memories ahhhhhh! I also have memories has a child of Christmas in Mexico City too but at that time in Mexico(1984-1998) we didn’t believe in Santa Claus we just celebrated Christmas. Now (1999-2006)we celabrate Santa Claus and give Christmas gifts too!

Before we had to wait until the three magical kings day which was on January 06 to receive our gifts.
On the night of January 05 before January 06 we writed a letter telling (the three magical kings)what we want has a gift then put the letter dull in the Christmas tree or we had the choice to moor the letter in a ballon and let the ballon go fly high to the sky so the three magical kings would take it.

We also eat a big bread call “ROSCA DE REYES” that had little white dolls that look similar to baby Jesus and the tradition said that who ever cut the piece of Rosca that had a Jesus doll in it, they had to cook Hot Tamales and Hot drink (champurrado) on February 02 Dia de la Candelaria ( Candlemas day) which is another holiday but only in Mexico.

To be honest Miki-san I was a believer and think that the three magical kings existed but one day my brother tell me the following: “Did you like what our parents gave you?” and thats when I felt so miserable and and I and yell “why did they have to lie and make us believe that they exist?” I was a beliver!

Now my family and I still do both countries holidays (Mexico and USA) but different because here in NYC we are alot of different people from all over the world that is impossible to do it the same like in our country.

Well Miki-san hope you enjoy my story and I want to ask you a favor:

サンタさんは日本が見つかれないと思います！　今年何ももらいませんでした！　　でも、実は、多分幼稚園の頃からサンタさんの存在に信じることはありません。

クリスマスの為に私のすすめ絵本は「The Little Match Girl」です。
めちゃ悲しいです。

PS: In Mexico they do the same on television and in the streets they show you all the traditions of all Asian countries specially Japan, China and Korea which are the Asians people to be honest we like and love must!
