Mina-san, Today’s location is ルワンダ・Ruwanda - hello to all of our listeners in Angola! Yoroshiku onegai shimasu!
Thursday at 10:59 pm
Wow! I really mean it. This was really a great lesson because these topics that you are covering are very useful. I’ve got a question though. In yesterdays PDF you said that with intransitive verbs you use tame ni instead of -te ageru.
Thursday at 11:11 pm
JockZon,
I have a question for you. Are you asking for a “model sentence”? In the dictionary that I have shows れいぶん 例文 not 零分.
What do you think?

Hi minna-san,
Looking at the practice threads mounting up when even I don’t always have the time and energy to write examples, I’ve consolidated my experiment into a single thread.
http://www.japanesepod101.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=477
The idea is still the same, a place to practice single sentences as a less daunting alternative to the conversation threads.
Come along, try out your Japanese sentences.
(maybe tame ni can be the first I’m curious about that too)
Friday at 1:41 am
JapanesePOD101,
The PDF shows
I think it should be
It seems to be right in the romaji but wrong in the kanji or kana versions.
Thanks
John C. Briggs
Friday at 1:59 am
John-san, thank you for pointing that out. It will be changed shortly.
Friday at 2:39 am
“kechi” is now my new favorite word!

Grattis på bröllopsdagen!
Friday at 7:18 am
Thank you, Sindyさん! Some of my entries on LiveJournal are viewable to friends only, so if you have a LJ, feel free to add me. This goes for all others, too!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senegal
Looking at that Wiki entry on Senegal, I see that French is the official language, and maybe it is french I’m hearing in all those records from the 60’s that I have. The romance languages are all connected, and I may not be realizing what I’m hearing.. Hmm.
Friday at 7:58 am
Boy, this little bird is annoying me so much.
So, here it goes.
Congratulations in English is (drum roll please): Congratulations Eranさん!
Okay, the さん isn’t English, but I will get ridiculed here if I leave it off. And I didn’t want to be the dud who only knows cogratualtions in English & Japanese while others here have much more interesting languages to use. Oh well.
Now, I wonder why Our Vickyちゃん is waiting to write in Korean. What’s up with that?
Oh, and re: the lesson today. Good stuff.
Peter
You keep saying 「はっ?」。 That’s not English.
Oh, how is next Thursday for swinging by? Who will be there?
Friday at 8:14 am
Oh boy, Daniel-san!
Are you really going to the studio!!!!
Friday at 8:15 am
Eran-san, I want to write in Korean, but I don’t have fonts at work.
So I’m going to try romanji first….
Kulhon Chukka Hamnida!!!
Friday at 8:16 am
Eran-san,
Romanian: La multi ani!!
(Many years!)
Friday at 8:19 am
Lizさん、
Probably. You do realize though that Yoshi Yoshi Yoshi…blah blah blah… is away on vacation though, don’t you?
Friday at 8:34 am
okay I forgot that I just G5 from work, duah!
So here we go, with JockZon-san’s help!
Friday at 8:47 am
Daniel-san,
Oh well, I guess we have something on him already.
Oh no! Yoshi-san will not be there!
Vicky-san,
I have a G5 and I really love it! Mac rules!
Friday at 8:57 am
Hello Liz you are all over the board but not available for chatting?
Friday at 9:00 am
JockZon-san!
Friday at 9:00 am
Huh?
Friday at 9:01 am
JockZon
sorry - - going to the movies now.
Friday at 9:03 am
Sounds nice. I am not going anywhere because it’s 2 o’clock (in the middle of the night) Maybe I should get some sleep. I have studied japanese all day long. I was about to clean my room but that didn’t happen.
Friday at 9:15 am
Because Vicky like languages that much I will continue the gratulations in the other language I know, but I won’t steal Jonas’ or Sölvi’s thunder and write it in norwegian.
German:
Alles gute zum Hochzeitstag!
Friday at 10:08 am
I’ll try to do Chinese.
Eran
Friday at 11:04 am
Here goes in spanish:
¡Felicitaciones Eranさん ! ¡Muchas Felicidades y largos años!
Friday at 11:14 am
Well, I hope what everybody was just Ok, now I going to sleep, tomorrow a have a final test…
I need some sleep…
Friday at 11:20 am
Is the audio producer pasting a special ‘te’ into the podcast, whenever Peter-san says it?
Friday at 12:03 pm
Max-san,
Doesn’t he do it well now?
If only I could correct my nasty American accent as easily.:???:
Ha, ha!
I suggested that Peter correct his “tay” to “teh”.
Friday at 12:13 pm
If I’m correct, the producer is just cutting out Peter’s incorrect ‘tay’ and pasting in a ‘teh’
Anyway, to my question:
Why have we got ‘何’? Wouldn’t ‘同じ物ですから’ mean the same thing?
Friday at 1:28 pm
Max-san,
We may cut certain things, but we haven’t cut any te’s lately. Sorry
Also, that is actually なん rather than 何. This is な and the contracted form of the particle の used to offer explanation, among other things.
Friday at 6:52 pm
Gratulerer med bryllupsdagen!
When JockZon told me to write it in Norwegian here, I first thought Jonas was getting married or something…
Friday at 6:54 pm
Aha! Eranさん is getting married! Now I understand… I must learn to read the comments before I post… Gratulerer!!!
Friday at 8:28 pm
Sláinte agus saol agaibh (Irish) (good) health and (long) life to you (pl)
while reviving my very rusty Irish I came across this which is nice if a bit diddlydyedo ! (and I’m not sure how traditional it’d be) –>
Traditional Irish Wedding Blessing
May God be with you and bless you,
May you see your children’s children,
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in joy,
And may you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
Friday at 9:44 pm
JapanesePOD101,
Thank you for fixing the ただ issue in the PDF.
Friday at 10:16 pm
Vicky-san, I’m so glad you’re OK. Take care.
Belton-san, the Irish Traditional Blessing is lovely
)
(I miss Ireland
Here’s my Japanese congratulations.
Eran-san, gokekkon omedetou gozaimasu. Sue nagaku oshiawaseni. (Eran-san, congratulations on your wedding. Long life and happiness to you both.)
Friday at 11:30 pm
Mina-san,
Words cannot express the gratitude for all the kind words. Yes, tonight my beautiful fiance, Kristen, and I are getting married in Aruba with 60 of our closest friends and family in attendance.
Kristen is my best friend and primary source of inspiration for everything that I do (of course the JapanesePod101 community is a close second). I absolutely love her to no ends and I consider myself so lucky to have found someone who completes me and balances me like no other. We met 4 years ago and I have been the happiest man since
Well, I better run before she finds out I am on the laptop on my wedding day!!!
Thanks once again to all.
Eran
Friday at 11:35 pm
Wow! Sakuraさん posting here!

Saturday at 12:24 am
Eran san
I wanted to send you my very best wishes for your future happiness together. I know there is a collection of many different national greetings and naturally many in English but I haven’t seen anybody from Italy and since I am passionate about Italy and, if possible, I want to be Italian in my next life (if there is one)
Tanti auguri
Saturday at 12:42 am
