Tuesday at 3:24 am
When talking about your age you say the number + sai・さい・歳. For example in the dialogue we used 29, which would be ni-jyuu-kyuu-sai・にじゅうきゅうさい・二十九歳.
Important!!! 2 exceptions! 1 year old and 20 years old.
1 year old – issai・いっさい・一歳
20 years old – hatachi・はたち・二十歳

Today’s location is Kobe・こうべ・神戸 World famous for Kobe beef, which are apparently fed beer and massaged to increase the quality of the beef. Still waiting to get to Kobe to try it! Located in Hyogo Prefecture to the west of Osaka, was struck by a devastating earthquake in 1995. For more please check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe or http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/神戸市

so are you guys really 二十九歳 then? hontou ne?
Anyways, this is just a thought but I was thinking maybe you guys should cover some main differences between ‘ne’ and ‘yo’. I think it’d be very omoshiroii!
arigatou gozaimasu minasan!

Mmm, sorry since everyone is so studious with the lesson while what I’d like to mention is Kobe beef!
I haven’t had the chance to try Kobe beef in Kobe yet but I tasted it in California for the 1st time about 6 months ago! Wow, sugoi oyishi desu ne!!! The beef was very tender, juicy, and blast with flavor! The chef told me that it’s yummiest when it’s medium rare! I highly recommended it! *Caution*
Of course, it was a bit on the pricey side.
Wednesday at 12:46 pm
What is the word that was introduced? It is not listed in the vocab list or PDF for the lesson. Thanks

Again, excellent work! Otsukara sama desu!
You all joked about the age 29 and I wonder is this similar to how British/Western people say they’re 21 in jest so they don’t have to reveal their real age?
Thursday at 5:27 pm
Eric San The word is “aikawarazu” あいかわらず means as usual , as always , as before
Saturday at 10:16 pm
I think 八歳 (hassai) should also be listed as an exception.
Saturday at 10:17 pm
Oops. also 十歳 (jussai) instead of juusai, i.e. jussai, san jussai, yon jussai etc.
Saturday at 10:10 pm
MILLION DOLLARS QUESTION hahaha!!!!!!!!!
I want to be rich
Friday at 1:36 pm
They have the word ,”toshi” listed as part of the vocabulary words but I did not see or hear it in the lesson or grammer points.I was curious to know how it should be used to ask a question or make a statement about age.

祖母は129歳です。So, there will be 129 candles on her birthday cake. I think she will die from trying to flow out all those candles. There are must be a better way to go around it.
Wednesday at 12:15 pm
i have been studying Japanese for 2 months. your spelling looks fine to me.
Wednesday at 2:21 pm
Potato-san,
You’ll need a very very big cake enough for 129 candles to put on.
Friday at 12:54 am
Is まじで a good subsitute for 本とですか?
Friday at 9:11 am
kiki-chanさん、
ほんとうですか is polite, while まじで is very casual and slangy, so it’s hard to call it a “good substitute”. If you are talking with close friends, it would be okay to use, but other than that I would stick to ほんとうですか
Friday at 9:14 am
kiki-chan-san
Not at all.
まじで is fairly casual expression.
It’s good to use to your good friends who are same age as you or younger than you in a very casual situation. But please please do no ever use it to someone who has high social status than you nor in a formal situation.
Sunday at 4:22 am
Could 才(さい) be used instead of 歳?
Monday at 9:44 am
Uncle-Jayさん,
Yes, either one can be used
Friday at 8:05 pm
Minna-san, konnichiwa!!!
kotoshi watashi wa nijyuu ni-sai desu. Is that correct?
Thank you for the podcast, it’s very helpful)))
