lessons for non-english-speakers? about martial art? zen?

Postby ktnagel » February 1st, 2008 8:33 pm

hello friends at jp101,

have you ever thought about doing lessons in non-english?
maybe french, german, spanish, even russian to japanese?
probably not so popular, but you could cooperate with cultural organizations
like the goethe-institut , and i'm sure there are twins of it in most other languages.

another thing that i do like very much is japanese history and martial art.,
or the unique cultural facets like zen bhudism (i hope i spelled it correct ;)
and i would like to hear more of those matters.

best greetings from germany,
thomas

I think that is a good idea. Cooperate with cultural organization. Jpod101 can also cooperate with these organization to start up other language pod such as RussianPod101, GermanPod101...etc..

Actually Jpod101 can try to cooperate with Japan Foundation too...get the Japanese government to fund Jpod101 partly...since Japan Foundation existence is to promote cultural and language exchange...

Lesson about Martial arts...

Postby DaveW » March 15th, 2008 12:53 am

Hey,

I think a lesson about martial arts would be great. There are a lot of possibilities. Maybe a university club. Issues of senpai/kohai, various martial arts terminology like punching, blocking, kicking, etc. Respectful speech towards the sensei. It could even be a martial arts lesson set in the Edo period, a master-disciple type thing... That would be a cool series! The student could get into various contests with other warriors... a Miyamoto Musashi-esque story.

The Zen idea isn't bad either. Perhaps a lesson set in a zen temple, where a master instructs a monk in koan practice like... "what is the sound of one hand clapping?"

Thanks...
