James: This is Must-Know Japanese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 25. In this lesson you'll learn onomatopoeia.
James: As you know, there are many onomatopoeia in Japanese. And in slang expressions too! Here are some Japanese slang onomatopoeia.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
James: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Risa: ガンガン (gangan)
Risa: キレキレ (kirekire)
Risa: モテモテ (motemote)
Risa: ラブラブ (raburabu)
James: Risa, what's our first expression?
Risa: ガンガン (gangan)
James: literally meaning "clang clang." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "vigorously."

James: literally meaning "popular popular." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "popular with boys or girls."

James: Use this slang expression when you want to describe a person who is really popular with boys or girls. This word is from the verb
Risa: もてる (moteru),
James: which has just about the same meaning.

James: emphasizes that more people love him or her by using repetition.
