INTRODUCTION
James: Verbs Frequently Used in Slang Expressions
James: Hi everyone, and welcome back to JapanesePod101.com. I'm James.

James: This is Must-Know Japanese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 19. In this lesson, you'll learn verbs frequently used in slang expressions.
James: In this lesson, the most popular slang verbs are introduced. You may have heard some of them if you've had a chance to converse with Japanese young people.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
James: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Risa: ウケる (ukeru)
Risa: ムカつく (mukatsuku)
Risa: イケてる (ikete ru)
Risa: ハマる (hamaru)
James: Risa, what's our first expression?
Risa: ウケる (ukeru)
James: literally meaning "to receive." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "hilarious."
Risa: [SLOW] ウケる [NORMAL] ウケる

James: Use this slang expression when you want to express someone or something that is really funny and makes you laugh a lot.
James: Now let's hear an example sentence.

James: literally meaning "to feel nauseous." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "annoying."

James: Use this slang expression when you want to express that someone, or some situation, is disgusting or annoying. You can also use it to show just a slight irritation jokingly to your friends.

James: "My boss dumped only heavy tasks on me! He is really annoying!"

Risa: イケてる (ikete ru)
James: It doesn’t have a literal meaning. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "cool, nice, attractive."

James: Use this slang expression when you want to express that someone, or something, is really nice or cool.

James: literally meaning "to get stuck." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be into."
