The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a political and business centre which has a skyline full of skyscrapers. The city is also considered to be an information hub, since a variety of information is collected in and sent out to the provinces from Tokyo. -

Osaka is the second biggest city in Japan, located southwest of Tokyo. Osaka has developed as a merchant city. -

One of the two Japanese cities which experienced the atomic bomb during the Second World War. The memorial day of this event is the 6th of August. This city and Nagasaki are the only cities in the world that have actually experienced the atomic bomb, and as such they are trying to put across the reality of the event to the rest of the world, with the eventual aim of the eradication of nuclear weapons and nuclear power. -

Sapporo hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1972 as the first Asian host country. Sapporo city is the political and economic centre of the prefecture of Hokkaido, with the fourth largest population in Japan. -

Ahaha, you're right. The review quiz is based on the Vocabulary section so that the answer is just their names in romaji. :sweat_smile:

haha, I thought the quiz was silly because the words are exactly the same. So for me, the lesson was more historical. :)


So I answered with

1. Tokyo = capital of Japan

2. Osaka = 2nd largest city in Japan

3. Hiroshima = one of the two cities that got hit by an atomic bomb, and where a great deal of inspiration lies in the movement against such weaponry.

4. Sapporo = I just remembered the Olympics

5. Nagasaki = big ports for trade.
