Kabuki in London

Postby gillian » June 2nd, 2006 12:19 am

I would just like to alert any Japanese culture vulture who lives within striking distance of Lodon that Kabuki superstar Ebizo XI is performing at the Sadlers Wells Theatre util 11 June in Fuji Musume and Kasane. This was a absolutely fascinatig evening.

Kabuki is a traditional form of Japanese theatre that's performed solely by men and allows little scope for contemporary interpretation. Time Out meets Japan's leading kabuki star prior to his arrival in London for a show at Sadler's Wells.

I have seen kyogen which is traditional comedy however, I haven’t seen kabuki live.
I would love to see that someday.
