Yes, another question if not too much trouble. Some of the flashcards are changing - the most recent one I've just struck is "sink" which is now せんめんだい (洗面台 or wash basin) rather than 流し (nagashi). Is this supposed to happen, or is it a gradual "upgrade" process?

Patrick

ps, the flashcards do help - would not have been able to survive without Jpod101 in Tottori the last two days without having invested the time in learning a bunch of new words.

Patric-san,
of course it's not a trouble at all!! :D

Good question! We actually distinguish sinks depending on the purpose of use.
流し is the kitchen sink where we 流す the water, washing up dishes
while 洗面台 is, as you see, the place we watch (= 洗) face (= 面).

We're not supposed to wash faces (and wash hands after using the loo...) or brush teeth in the kitchen.
My mother will be angry if I did
