RSS feed for informal tracks

Postby Jostein » April 23rd, 2006 11:05 pm

This page is so good, I can only name one thing I'm really missing: Syndication of the informal tracks. It's not that I don't want to visit the sleek new version 2 page to get them, not at all, actually I will frequent it anyways, it's just the hassle of downloading and putting them onto my player manually. Of course that's laziness, but it's also what podcasting is all about. How about implementing a seperate, informal feed? In my (very busy) case, that would probably make the difference between being able to listen to them and not. And they are really a great tool helping you see how formal speech is transformed into informal. What do you think?

Yes yes, I was missing that feature as well. I guess there is plenty of other stuff to visit this site anyway, not just to get informal track. Actually I have been visiting this site quite often, but downloaded informal track only 1-2 times. Now that most things on net are RSSed, it just does not feel right to move mp3s around manually, especially if you've got quite a few podcast subscriptions on your mp3 player.

Now that the forums have been up for a few days, and the feature requests are starting to fill up, i'm beginning to realize that there are actually many things on jpod that could be improved, especially on the technical/GUI-side. I hope the tech team like their jobs! Btw, it would also be a good idea to have a feed for absolutely everything, informal tracks included. Well, perhaps it would be a little untidy with that many feeds, but it doesn't necessarily have to be listed on the front page either, if the technical solution allows that.

Thanks for the incredible feedback and for posting on the forum. While we are still working out some bugs with v2.0 of the site, we have begun the requirement gathering phase of a "Download Center". Our goal is to provide Torrent and RSS support for each media file type (formal/informal mp3's, pdf's, etc). I don't have a release date but I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to make it happen as quickly as possible.

As always, thank you for your patience, support, and feedback.
