JDrama

Postby Oranda_jin » November 16th, 2008 9:59 pm

In Holland most of the time it's hard to find japanese series or movies,
sometimes we have small japanese film festivals,
but for the rest...

My nihongo is still on a level that I have to rely on subs,
but not all japanese movies have them.
While browsing I came across a site for JDramas
that I wanted to share:

have fun and gambatte kudasai :!:

I'd watch Japanese TV a lot more often, but Live Station never works except at ridiculous times. I was watching a show called 温泉へGo!, which was ridiculous by most standards, but it was so bad that it was watchable. Periodical dramas seem to be a bit more serious. I saw one set in the Edo period, but I don't know what it was called.

There doesn't seem to be any distinction between drama and soap opera with the term dorama, so it makes it difficult to find something good. I can't stand soap operas, since I'm not a woman.

It'd be good if there was a drama like CSI or something a bit more serious, even though I don't watch it, the Japanese version might be worth watching.

I didn't mean to come across as harsh, if the guy likes soap operas or something. It's just that generally they seem to be the TV equivalent of a chick flick, which I'm really not a fan of. I'd watch just about anything right now anyway, because it's really starting to wind me up that I have Jack all to watch for listening comprehension :?

Try 『Galileo』 it's sort of CSI-lite

I quite liked 『Stand Up』a sort of Japanese American Pie, but with much better observation.

is a good place for TV dramas

Unfortunately since the demise of Stage6 I haven't seen any of NHKs period dramas knocking about.

Satoshi Kon's anime is fairly serious. I recommend giving Paranoia Agent and Tokyo Godfathers a try.

I miss Stage6 so much. I wistfully remember it all day, and dream of it at night. I've written ballads.

:D

I feel the same way, only not about Stage6 (although it was a good site) but about Firefly. :)

Thanks for the links, I didn't know about Veoh. I've been watching Gokusen this week. It's probably the cheesiest thing I've ever seen - from the generic music to the children's book style moral in every episode - but it's strangely watchable  It's worth watching just for this guy; he cracks me up every time
