BUYING THINGS IN JAPAN

Postby Cplishka » June 8th, 2008 9:36 pm

Hi all,

Trip is booked for end of March 2009.

What is good to buy in Japan? Are electronics cheaper or more expensive than the states?

Any good stores to see? Places that have art or pottery? Anything out of the ordinary?

Thanks!

Chuck

End of March is an excellent time to come to Japan - but make sure you book all your accomodation well in advance particularly if you plan on going to places like Kyoto as they are very popular around cherry blossom time...

I think you will find that electronics are generally about the same price as the US - some peripherals like memory cars etc may be cheaper but if buying something you think needs a guarentee I would stick to the US.

I don't go to the US much so please don't take my word and do some research! Most big stores in Tokyo will sell duty free which requires a little paper work and a passport.
