人偏とか、くさんむりとか、どう言う事?

Postby nihongooshiero » June 30th, 2009 11:01 pm

I have a game on my computer which helps me to learn Japanese, so I have with it some kind of a problem.
In one category of this game you are being asked questions basically about Kanji and it asks you what is the form of the Kanji :
Kusanmuri, Ninben and such.
I don't understand the meaning of those words and what I should do.
Please explain me what does it means and what exactly is the form of it (For example some kind of a noun).

コンピューターには、日本語の漢字を教えるゲームが有りまして、そして一つの問題が有ります。
そのゲームの一部には、漢字の問題が有りまして、そして漢字の形を選びます(人偏、くさんむりそんな事です)、全く意味が分からなくてそして何をすればも分からなくて。
お願いこの言葉の意味を説明して下さい、そして形も説明して下さい。
本当に助かりますから。

Those are the names of the various radicals (components) that kanji are comprised of, for instance へん is the left side, so にんべん is the person radical as in the characters 休, 便, 任, etc. Likewise かんむり is the topmost radical, so くさかんむり (I'm not aware of くさんむり) is the grass radical as in 草, 花, 夢, etc. You can find a pretty comprehensive reference here:

れは漢字の部首を示す言葉です。たとえば「へん」というのは漢字の左の部分を表して、「休、便、任」のように、左側の「人」は「にんべん」と言えます。同じように「かんむり」は上の部分を示して、「草, 花, 夢」などの字の上の部首は「くさかんむり」(「くさんむり」は聞いたことがないんですけど)と呼ばれます。
