Lists stable?

Postby Saiyan » September 3rd, 2008 2:35 am

I heard that soon the JLPT levels will change to N1-N5, with N5 being the lowest and N1 the highest. In this case, is there a chance of the lists being changed for N5 (lvl 4)? I ask this because I am planning to take the lvl 4 test in Dec 2010.

As far as I know they've announced the changes but haven't issued a specification yet.
Even when a specification is published (maybe next year) it's all in Japanese and aimed more at publishers and test setters than students. It can take quite a while for details to appear on the web as to what's on the exam.
(This could be something jPod101 could do and make lots of people happy and gain new subscribers. hint hint)

The big change is a new level between the present 3 and 2. I don't think the content of N5 and N4 will be different than what it is at the moment. Any study you do on the current JLPT4 or JLPT3 syllabus will be useful. I'd guess any changes to N5 would be minor.
