Sample Sentence with 有望

有望 (yūbō: good prospects, full of hope, promising)

山本は有望な仕事に就いている。
Yamamoto wa yūbōna shigoto ni tsuite iru.
Yamamoto has a job with good prospects.

山本 (Yamamoto: family name)     mountain + origin
仕事 (shigoto: job, work)     to serve + business
(tsu(ku): to take up (a position), enter (a business))

To my surprise, this is the kanji to use in writing tsuite (就いて: about, concerning), though people usually use hiragana for that. Halpern says that in 就いて, too, means “to take up (a position), enter (a business), set about a task, set out, enter upon, assume (office).” Not sure I see the connection between those definitions and “about,” but I believe him!
