Hello everyone. This is Miki's blog!

Ever day is quite cold these days, isn't it?
Has snow fallen in your country yet?
When it is falling snow, it gets very cold and we will be in trouble for the trains will stop. Nevertheless, I get very excited when it is falling snow.
Every year, it doesn't snow much in Tokyo, but Hokkaido, a place North of Japan, a lot of snow falls each year. Although winter in Sapporo is very cold, I wish that I can go to "Sapporo Snow Festival" at least once. "Sapporo Snow Festival" is one of the biggest event that is held in Sapporo, and about 2 million people all over the world visit this event. In this event, statues are made from snow and ice. The sizes are varied; the largest one has 40 meter in width, and the smallest one has 2 square meters.
Some of the statues are based on the popular thing and events that happened within the year. It is both creative and fun. In the evening, the snow and ice statues are illuminated, and are much more beautiful than afternoon.

In order to hold this event, beautiful white snow is carried to Sapporo using 6000 5-ton truck. In 2007, due to lack of snow, the national defense army had to transport snow from the mountain using helicopters. Maybe the reason there was a little snow is because of global warming.

This year, the Sapporo Snow Festival will be held from February fifth till the 11th.
Please tell me about your country's winter festival.

I'll talk to you next week!

X'mas

Preparation for X'mas
Hello everyone, how are you?
I can't believe how quickly time flies! It's nearly time for Christmas. Did you already make plans for Christmas? As Christmas draws near, I really get into the spirit. Big Christmas trees are decorated, Christmas songs are played in the stores, and when the Christmas lights on the streets light up, I realize that it's already December.

Christmas in Japan has almost no connection to the Christian religion. It is simply one of the annual events here. Generally, Japanese have a great time with their friends or do something romantic with their special someone. What about in your country? How do you spend your time? Are you more likely to spend time with your family?

December is also known as "Shiwasu". The origin of the word is diverse, but it is generally said that it's so busy that even monks have to run. December is a busy time since there is Christmas and preparation for the New Year as well!

Bye for now, see you next week!
