wael-san,
When you are told 8時まで電話をしてください, you need to keep talking on a phone until 8 o'clock.
On the other hand when you are told 8時までに電話をしてください, you just make a phone call anytime but by 8 o'clock.
I hope this helps.

The PDF is okay but i must say that the audio part of the lesson wasn't up to the usual standard. The more difficult aspects of the lesson (you ni naru and you ni suru) weren't even mentioned once. Perhaps less time could be spent in repearting the same sentance several times and more time could be spend in explaining the complex grammer.

Tess-san
Thank you for asking!! :grin:
We really should have mention it in the lesson.:oops: Yes. When it's clear that we're talking about days of the week, we tend to drop -youbi especially in a casual situation. :wink:
>>My husband, who doesn’t speak a word of Japanese, always got it right long before me. He’d simply look at the pictures, which I’d managed to miss seeing!!!
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
I'm always amazed by those pictures!!!:mrgreen:

1. Just wondering ... in the dialogue, the "youbi" part of the days of the week were dropped. Is this a usual way of saying them?
2. When we were in Japan recently, we found the garbage disposal system to be fascinating! It was next to impossible to find a "public" garbage bin to dispose of papers, drink bottles etc (except at the konbinis!!!). So when we did find the bins, I was busy trying to read the katakana to see what I was allowed to put in each hole. My husband, who doesn't speak a word of Japanese, always got it right long before me. He'd simply look at the pictures, which I'd managed to miss seeing!!! My katakana reading skills improved out of sight by being "on location", so to speak. It was amazing being able to read signs, menus, etc.
