Learn Japanese with JapanesePod101.com! It’s a good sign. Your Japanese boss has invited you to a celebration for his mother’s eightieth birthday. You’ll need all of your Japanese lessons for this event for several reasons, not the least of which is that his mother speaks only Japanese. Small problem, he gave you directions to the Japanese restaurant where the event is being held, but you’re having trouble finding the place. Calling him on his cell phone, you ask, in Japanese, “Boss, I’m having a little trouble finding the restaurant. Can you help me?” His Japanese answer comes quickly, “It’s not easy to find. Where are you at right now?” You look around and answer in Japanese, “I’m at a parking lot across the street from the hotel.” He answers in Japanese, “Well, you’re very close. Do you see the tea house on the corner?” Scanning the street, you answer again in Japanese, “Not really, Boss. I don’t see the tea house on this street.” He asks in Japanese, “Do you see a small sign on a building in front of you showing a cup of coffee?” You look around again, spot the sign, and answer in Japanese, Yes! A coffee house!” He tells you in Japanese, “Oh, okay, I know where you are. Stay right there and I’ll send someone to show you the way.” You answer in your most polite Japanese, “Thank you, Boss, that’s very kind.” “Not at all, we’re glad you could come on such short notice.”
