When food is not really your taste,
I was told to use
“maa-maa” to express it. “maa-maa desu”.
to sound not too rude. Like in English “it is so-so.”

Mr Poo says:

When the food is not to your liking you could also say 調味料の使い方は面白いですね。 What an interesting way to use spices / seasoning.

Mina-san,
Thank you for your comments!
Mr. Poo-san, thank you for your good idea!
I wouldn’t say anything about the taste when I don’t like the food, but would try to to say about something other than its taste, for example, freshness, softness or crunchy.

I am certain that I will have to learn the more advanced points of “-deshita” and “-gozaimasu” later. Is it specific to a word, or is it a grammatical rule to append those honorifics to specific situations?
