Sivasakthivel -san
Thank you for posting a great question.
You can use causative for non living things. However for your sentence case( to say "to make something in a certain state" ), it would be natural to use [adverbial form of adjective ]＋suru.

Are you familiar with this usage of suru meaning "make"?
For example
●わたしは部屋をあたたかくする I'm going to make my room warm.
●わたしは部屋をきれいにする I'm going to make my room clean.
The formation is
●[na adjective/Noun] ＋にする
●[i adjective; replace "i" with "ku "]＋する

So the phrases you want to use to compose your sentences are (I know you can do it by yourself though )
大きくする and 小さくする.

This grammar point will be covered in the future lessons.

Raymasakiさん,

ジョーク is another word you hear in Japanese. I don't think ジョーク is used for だじゃれ, though, I think it refers to a different kind of joke... like for example, アメリカンジョーク. Maybe one of the native senseis could shed some more light on this

いいペンネームが思いつかない
which tsuku is being used here? is this the same tsuku used with uso? is there another lesson covering this verb combination?

Aaronさん,
That show sounds pretty interesting! Is it on the radio? How do you listen to it?

stuさん,
Great video!

Allenさん,
Ooh, nice one

Robさん,
Thanks for coming back to comment!! Don't hesitate to ask us about anything you don't understand. We hope you stop by and comment more

ヤドカリさん,
@07:13, うっとうしい, which is "annoying" or "lame"

Oh, and the other name for 駄洒落 is 親父ギャグ - ギャグ is just from the English word "gag".

@07:40 アルミ缶の上にあるみかん - The mikan (mandarin orange) on top of an aluminum can. Here アルミ缶 and あるみかん are the same.

@10:47 Here, Naomi said: 「そう、訳すと面白くもなんともないよね」... "When you translate it, it's not funny or anything"

Also, we don't currently have kana for the vocab sample sentences, but we are currently looking into ways to include it in the PDFs. The Lesson Notes Lite is a version that can be viewed on any OS (especially Macs, which have some trouble with the regular Lesson Notes).

also i'm still having trouble with the vocab sample sentences not including kana. if i get a premium membership do i get these examples with kana as well? one problem is that i cant highlight them to copy into a translator so i get stuck. also what is the difference between lesson notes and lesson notes lite? when i click on regular lesson notes i get a blank so maybe my navigator is too old?

Sorry I haven't commented in so long! I was big into commenting in Peter-san's heyday. Gotta say though, all the Japanese I didn't understand in this 'lower' intermediate lesson is pretty depressing :( I'm sure it would help with the lesson notes but next to the other study tools I use, the sites fees are just outrageous, or atleast out of my reach at the moment. I will try to stay up w/ the community though, in hopes those connections help studying.

And yes, that "Hankyu very much" is absolutely the worst!
