This is a great phrase. I used it a lot in Japan. It never got me a lower price but it did get me more respect from the store owners that I knew Japanese.

It’s amazing. I’ve been speaking learning Japanese for many years and I’ve lived in Japan for over a year but this is the first time that I’ve heard the phrase ‘まけてください’.

It’s funny, there will be other people out there who’ve just learnt it during their first week of Japanese study thanks to this site…I wonder how many other common phrases I’m yet to have picked up on.

Hello,
is kurenka the kansai Ben form of kudasai? Can it be used for any polite command with te form verbs? How about informal requests like, mizu kurenka… ? Thanks for the help!

Doumo Arigato.

This phrase helped me save 400 yen this past weekend. I went to a Flea Market in Nagoya (Osu Kannon) and was able to use this phrase. My wife and I love Disney and I fould some Kirin Lemon juice glasses with Disney characters on them. One booth had some for 200 yen a piece and another had two matching ones for 500 yen a piece. I was able to talk the lady down to 600 for both. Thank you so much. I have been getting an increasing amount of comments on how well my inflections have been getting. This is all thanks to Japanesepod101.com.
