でも、だれの板ばさみになったことはないわけ。

こんにちは まゆみさん Do you have any update on being able to edit my “My Feed” settings so that they always include new lesson series?
Friday at 11:03 am
I first heard of 草食男子 in this article
http://www.slate.com/id/2220535/
Friday at 12:38 pm
テッドさん、
I’ll try to see if we have any update on this issue.
Sorry to keep you waiting.
Friday at 7:16 pm
ありがとうございます まゆみさん. It is not urgent, I can still get the lesson notes, they just go to a different folder. I see by all the new products, features, and new language that everyone at Japanesepod 101 is very busy.
Saturday at 11:02 am
ありがとう!
結末は良いけど。。。もうちょうと男の言わり方が欲しい。
The conclusion was good, but having it also said in a male fashion would be better. How about some balance for the guys?
One more (small) request: Would you note whether the all kanji used in all lessons is on the Jyo-yo list?
It’d also be great if you could note which kanji are likely to be on each level of the JLPT.
Jōyō kanji are those on a list of 1945 characters.
Just some requests, right?

Haha, I was expecting a fight between the two girls! But it was a good ending too!
And Naomi-sensei,
I didn’t know Peter is a 部長! That kinda surprised me.
Monday at 5:06 pm

Hi,
I thought this lesson was great, and I especially thought the hosts were superb, with great voices and clear professional explanations, while still keeping it light in tone.
I`ve gone through it a few times now and feel comfortable with the content and also picked up some nice phrase from the native speking host, such as ” 男の立場からすると。。。” etc…
Thanks.
Abbass.

日本語でコメントを書いてくださり、ありがとうございました。
「微妙」は色々な意味があります。Lower IntermediateS4L12で、詳しく説明していますので、是非、聞いてください。
Thank you for putting comments and questions in Japanese!
The usage of the word 微妙 is explained in Lower Intermediate Series Season 4 , Lesson 12 - What Did You Expect? So please check out that lesson too.
Clienadさん の例文は2と3は大丈夫ですが、1は、
“びみょうな言葉をわかっている。”
→The meaning of びみょうな言葉 isn’t very clear from the context. So, maybe びみょうな言葉の違い is better.
>>けれどもスポーツで負けたくないしなら肉体男性になりますか?
うーん。スポーツには普通使わないですね。
肉食系・草食系 は 今は恋愛のことに使いますね。
Abbassーsan
ありがとうございます!!

Anyone else checking kotowaru after this one?
We love you naomi sensei!
Thursday at 10:48 pm
Ahh the last sentence right. hehe
ことわる=decline
ことわれ=able to decline
ことわれなかったって言うわけなんですか?
You mean something like, you weren’t able to decline right?
From the inflection I think Naomi meant something like above.
p.s
Naomi does have a most wonderful voice doesn’t she.
Friday at 5:02 pm
Yes I think kotowaru can also mean ‘to thank’ as well.
We love Natsuko-sensei as well. Hell, I love all of them.
Friday at 7:13 pm
Yeah I think this is one of those words that has multiple uses depending on the situation. I couldn’t hope to know them all I’m afraid. In this case it means to decline
but at other times it can mean any number of things I think we need Natsuko or Naomi sensei to clear this up.
I feel like I have them on radio. I have winamp and a lesson comes on every 20 minutes. Love all the voices love the acting love the situations love the intros. Great stuff.
Friday at 8:41 pm
Natsuko-san and Naomi-san are both fantastic and I also really like the voice actress who can do a harsh scolding of a hapless Japanese husband.
My only worry is that we are running out of upper intermediate lessons. Where is Peter? Has he retired?
Saturday at 1:21 am
hehe yeah she’s really good loved when she did the superstitious mother who stuck her nose in over the building of a house. That was well funny.
I gave birth to you an an auspicious day you should be more grateful!
Genius!
I wonder who that is??
I think Peter is busy hatching his master plan to take over the world with language pod casts. He might just do it.
Monday at 12:02 pm
Clienad-san, David Whitehouse-san
I guess the voice actress you’re talking about is Yasuko Ushijima.
She’s an actress and presides over a theatrical group called GLENS in Tokyo.
About the verb ことわる, the basic meaning is “to decline”, “to turn down”, “to tell in advance”.
Of course how you translate this word is depending on the context though.
I’ve heard this ことわる comes from こと “thing” わる”to break”.
I think this word origin helps you to remember this vocab.
