> dystopia-san,
 宇宙人が存在すると思いますか。どんな宇宙人ですか。いい宇宙人ですか？(my hope....)

> Mao-san,
Thank you very much for the comment!
We find time to reply here because we're happy to see comments like yours!

> Dan-san,
Yes, you're absolutely right!
The reason we don't say かも知らない IS exactly because this word comes from the verb 知る. As you might already know, 知らない means "don't know".
In other words, 知らない conclude already that you DON'T know, and かも shows
the possibility; those two don't go together.
「かもしれない」's LITERAL meaning is "perhaps (= かも) un-know-able (= しれない)".
And this expression becomes (the meaning of) "maybe","I wonder", etc.
Please note that 「かも知れない」 is fine, but the most standard is 「かもしれない」 in hiragana, when writing.

Thanks for the lesson, good quality as usual!

Why do we use かも知れない and not かも知らない ? I expected that the base of the grammar would be from the verb 知る/to know.

Thanks to a suggestion by Naomi-san  to try starting at season 4, I am really starting to catch on to the lower intermediate lessons! I also wanted to say that I like when some lessons are a kind of revisit to older lessons or previously covered words and grammar points. It really helps me to memorize the words and phrases when they are repeated every now and again.

I love how this series has so much discussion in between the lesson. It really helps to hear explanations of the words in Japanese and allows me to introduce other words into the conversation.

その会話はすごく便利でした。

Just wanted to point out that it seems that the beginner's lessons are now arguably more difficult than the so called "lower intermediate". Kamoshirenai can hardly be described as a grammar structure.

It must the consequence of some distorting measure of success. Say you look only at downloads or responses in the comments, then of course the majority of beginners will be pleased with easier lessons and the level will be driven down. Though I understand the business arguments, I think you should uphold some minimum standards. Of course, I still enjoy the lessons, but the grammar seems to repeat itself....
