Surely you could have chosen a more “feminine” walk sound effect… It sounds like a flat-shoed heavy man’s walk. Not what you expect in a classic detective story? Where is the glamor?
I don’t know, you could have used some kimono constrained geta short steps, or something… On the other hand, I suppose it’s politically correct!

Nice lesson!
Just wanted to point out one thing about the discussions of 探 and a few other kanji. There were references to the “left-hand radical,” “the upper right radical,” and the “lower right radical” in 探. The character 探 actually has three components but just one radical–the one on the left meaning “hand”. In each kanji, there can only be one radical at a time. All radicals are components, but not all components are radicals. Although 木 serves as the radical in many other kanji (e.g., 机 and 板, currently featured in the video on classroom vocab.), it’s “off-duty” in 探. That is, 木 isn’t serving as a radical here.

Not sure where they got the sound effect from!
Eve Kushnerさん> Thank you very much for pointing that out!
You are indeed right. They should have been referred to as components! I’ll make sure that this is clear when we discuss kanji again.

Just wanted to point out that it seems that the beginner’s lessons are now arguably more difficult than the so called “lower intermediate”. Kamoshirenai can hardly be described as a grammar structure.
It must the consequence of some distorting measure of success. Say you look only at downloads or responses in the comments, then of course the majority of beginners will be pleased with easier lessons and the level will be driven down. Though I understand the business arguments, I think you should uphold some minimum standards. Of course, I still enjoy the lessons, but the grammar seems to repeat itself….

I love how this series has so much discussion in between the lesson. It really helps to hear explanations of the words in Japanese and allows me to introduce other words into the conversation.
その会話はすごく便利でした。

Thanks to a suggestion by Naomi-san
to try starting at season 4, I am really starting to catch on to the lower intermediate lessons! I also wanted to say that I like when some lessons are a kind of revisit to older lessons or previously covered words and grammar points. It really helps me to memorize the words and phrases when they are repeated every now and again.
