I live in England and im a lolita ^^ ive seen tv programmes about english designers employing people to take photos of fashion in harajuku , now in england i’ve noticed many frilly things and skirts are getting poofyer , its extremely similar to this fashion it definatly effects the rest of the world
People think that lolita is strange even though its based on europian clothes, in japan i think people still wear kimono , id like to see lolita introduced to the uk , you can already see its effects in the shops here but it hsant quite caught on.

Hey everyone,
I am a 20 year old Lolita.
In america there isnt a lot of Lolita fans so when I wear my lolita clothes, I get different reactions. Everything from ‘Those close are weird’ to ‘That dress is so beautiful!’.
There is only 3 lolita fans including me in this town but only two of us wear lolita.
I think its very sad. dont you?

Tysonさん> Hi! Please send your question to contactus@japanesepod101.com - they can help you with billing questions there

Hassan jewallyさん> Thanks for your comment! Hmm, at 15 years old, I think san or kun could be used for you. For example, your friends might use kun to you, but your teachers might use san to you… it depends on the person!

Atolm_Dragonさん> I think that the audio blogs are fairly high level! I would say that they are Upper Intermediate/Advanced level. But I think learners at any level can listen to them - even if you don’t understand everything that is being said, it will get you used to the sound and flow of the Japanese language!

magic Toasterさん> It sounds like designers around the world are taking notice of Japan’s goth-loli style! It would be interesting to see how this fashion trend develops around the world

Amenatさん> Interesting to hear about the different reactions! I’m sure a lot of tourists that come to Japan are surprised when they encounter the goth-loli fashion in Harajuku too.

This is the first jpod I’ve listened to and I think this could be a good way for me to retain and improve my Japanese. Of course I’ll probably have to listen to it 10 times to catch all the words but if this is the type of thing I can expect from jpod I’ll probably get a subscription.

i’m a graduate student in China and i’ve noticed a lot of similar fashion trends to Goth-Loli here, especially among young people. Loli has also been coined as a fad word on the internet and used a lot to describe cute, flamboyant school girls who have the guts to sport unusual, flashy outfits

however, to me and my peers who are hitting 30 in next 6 or 7 years, the word Loli has a sort of negative connotation. i don’t know the exact reason, but my guess: i’m gettting too old to appreciate their taste and secretly resenting the fact that i will never be able to pull off this particular fashion style and be as fabulous as they are~~

Dickyさん,
Goth-Loli fashion in China is the same as in Japan? Is there anything difference?

Mayumi says:

Kigsway-san,
Can you check our Kanji Video lessons?

Enrico-san,

Yuri’s blogs are definitely upper intermediate/advanced level, although it would be nice if there were also really advanced lessons available. Yuri’s blogs are more sophisticated than Miki’s and are very useful, but they train you only in listening and reading. When will your program begin to offer real conversational Japanese (not the artificial kind you presently provide), with intensive drills? The upper intermediate conversations are not very satisfying, and they often contain silly humor that serves little purpose. This lack of conversation training continues to be 101.com’s major weakness.
